Using Graphs

Sometimes it is useful to compare batches. For example, if you want to see which breed did best, which flock has a failing rooster that needs replacing, or maybe you had different temperatures, humidity and egg sizes. Whatever the case, HatchKeeper has built-in graphs for this very purpose.

Clicking the graphs button in the toolbar will open the Graphs Dialog. Select a graph mode. You have three options here:

1: Multiple Batches, you can select any batch you want shown in the graph.
2: Single Group will show a graph of all the batches in a group
3: Multiple Groups will show the batch averages of all the groups you select.

Next select your batches or groups in the list. To select multiple items, use Ctrl + Mouse-Click under Windows and Linux, and Cmd + Mouse-Click under Mac. Under Android tap an item in the list to select it. Finally, click the Refresh Graph button to draw your graph. Every time you select a different mode and batches/groups, you must click the Refresh Graph button to redraw your graph.

Graph features vary a little between the desktop an mobile.

On the desktop you can select which bars to show and export a picture of the graph. However the number of batches you can effectively compare is limited since the graph doesn't scroll sideways. Instead it starts overlapping data. You can resize the dialog for a little adjustment. On Android you can't export pictures or select which bars to show. But you can select as many batches as you want without overlapping data.
